kind, fair and effective training for dogs of all breeds across Yorkshire
A refreshing approach to dog training and behavioural problems, I would recommend Morag's approach to anyone.
Incredibly understanding and patient, I dont think anyone has shown the same level of interest or care when working with me and Zak - my sensitive German Shepherd we found both the TTouch courses and Confidence courses incredibly insightful and helpful.
What I'm sure the boys would like to put is:
"WE LOVE YOU MORAG!" - Jake Dog and Mr Oliver....but a more practical response would be: Before we met Morag we were at breaking point with our Border Collies, we had been to every training class we could find, we had done everything the dog books tell you to and we were still losing the battle for our dogs' minds.
Morag has given us practical techniques, productive classes, insightful one-to-ones, useful resources, moral support and hope!
Having come through the confidence course 1 & 2 and enjoyed the Beyond the Basics, heel work to music and Rally-O we are carrying on to learn more and can't wait for the next set of classes to start. We would (and often do) recommend the Well Connected Canine courses to anyone with any kind of dog.
I've been along to a number of the Well Connected Canine classes, both as an observer and with my own dogs, and have been impressed with all the sessions I've attended. The classes are well run and enjoyable for all, and Morag is a great teacher - she's just as kind, fair and effective with the people in her classes as she is with the dogs! I would recommend the classes to anyone wanting to improve their relationship with their dog and develop their training skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Who says you can't teach a old dog new tricks? Our Jack Russell is 5 and had had no training, after just a few weeks she had a whole repertoire of new tricks. Edwina goes with my partner to work everyday so I don't get to spend much time with her. Morag's classes are our fun hour of the week where she enjoys learning new things with mum and seeing other dogs. Thanks Morag we'll see you at the next classes.
Charlie is doing really well with his new training and responding well – to the point that in the house he just stays with me – am having to teach him to stay for longer periods to ask for the recall!
I’d like to book in another session with you in 1-2 weeks time so you can come out with us on a walk and help me with him with distractions. Then with a bit more work, I’d like to either attend your attention classes for preparing for agility and then try some fun agility classes (you said you knew someone who we could go to the start and end of the class and have a little play until he is more responsive to me and we can join the classes properly?)
I’d also like to learn more about hand targeting when we get together. He just seems really responsive at the moment. His fetch and drop has come on leaps and bounds, he is jumping on things in the home and out in the field on command and last night I tried ‘through’ with him (under a bench) and he picked it up within 3 goes! He loves the clicker – he licks his lips every time he hears it :)
Hi Morag
Thanks for the notes - a very welcome reminder. We're getting on ok and Bryn has responded very well to the new lead. Just practice for both of us.
It was lovely to meet you - I wish I'd found you sooner.
Myself and Reno have just returned from a break in Wales visiting my parents and we spent a bit of time at the beach - his recall was perfect and he wasn't distracted by other dogs, adults or children and there were quite a lot on the beach at one point. I kept him occupied with his ball but was throwing it huge distances and he came back every time, it was great to see.
Can you please sign him up for the confidence course as he loves coming and can only do him more good-took him to see helen at the vets today for his vacs and she can't believe how much calmer he is- so thank you and I will see you at class!
Morag, I just wanted to thank you for the Adolescent Angels course that Bertie and I have just finished. He really seemed to enjoy it and has improved lots in the past few weeks. In particular your suggestions about changing his feeding habits have calmed him down immensely. I now get regular comments from neighbours when I have him out walking. I look forward to receiving your email list of further courses that are available.
Hi Morag, Carter is doing brilliantly on his walks now: at times he will even ignore a cat on the other side of the road! Thank you so much for all your help and advice. Unfortunately we don't think we'll be able to attend this round of training courses, but we'll certainly keep checking your site for courses in the future.
Since taking class Murray has switched from a shy and timid puppy to a confident adult. He now knows lots of brilliant tricks and has gained self control. It was a pleasure working with you and learning how to train my puppy. It definitely brought out the best in both of us!
Highly recommended. Interesting and different. Lots of individual attention. Plenty of positives for both dogs and owners.
